What Do Mealworms Eat And Their Life Cycle
Mealworms Turn Into
You may want to know what do mealworms turn into? Believe it or not a mealworm will not live and die as you see it. They will begin their life's journey as a larva. This can be considered to be their infant stages. After this part of their life cycle they will then grow into what is referred to as the pupa stage. That is basically a cocoon phase that they are emerged in until they reach the final journey in their lives. They will finally emerge from the pupa as a beetle. So mealworms begin as larva, then pupa and then the meal worms turn into beetles that start of white in color and become a brown color that is so dark it looks black.
Mealworm Beetle
A mealworm beetle is is essentially both. It's both a beetle and a mealworm. Beetles are the final stage of the life of a meal worm. A millworm is the beginning stage of life of a beetle. The beetle is basically an adult meal worm.
What Does A Mealworm Eat
A meal worm will eat a surprisingly wide variety of organic items. When it comes to their diet they will eat whatever they can consume. This normally includes decayed things such a grass, and leaves, and also rotted sticks. It is not a far stretch to see them devouring insect caucuses as well as grain. If my memory serves me correctly back in my middle school days they were kept in science class in a canister with sawdust which was a food source as well. They are also know to consume fluids from fruits that they come across as well.
Some people have reported that they have even bought bags of flour where when they have opened them up there were somehow meal worms eating and breeding in it.
Mealworm Cycle
A mealworm cycle is simply the process that the worm goes through during it's life from birth to death. It will change through various phases and assume various forms as it progresses from a baby to an adult. The larva turn pupa turn beetle and completes the mealworm cycle.
